These people are not educated or very intelligent, I would guess, yet are given positions where they feel they have dominance over people, they wouldn't normally and seem to get a kick out of abusing them.
When I travel to France or England or Japan, security is much more aloof or even polite. In New York, security behaves as if they are angry at you because you are there...Not just at airports, at nightclubs and office and apartment buildings also. It's really immature and the fact that their superiors do not correct this behavior is troubling.

hmmm might it be possible they are just having a bad day? Just b/c someone works with people doesnt mean they have to be sun shiny happy all the time. People are rude, customers are rude, and they can put u in a bad mood. We all cant be perfect all the time. If its an ongoing thing whenever you go to that place of business, then inform the managers.
If it bothers you so much, do something about it.

Well, for starters, it is New York! that kinda says it all! no just kiddin... well maybe they are rude because they have seen a lot of crimes and criminals and things like that so they want to be carful about there job and they don't want anyone to get hurt...and they probably think hurting someone emotionaly isn't quite as bad as hurting someone physically! am I right?
