i live in the united states please let me know.i made 700 hundred a month for two months from unemployment that was my only income for 2006.and iam also married my wife did not work.

It's not how much you made per month, but what you made for the whole year. If your total income between you and your wife was $1400 for the year, then no, you don't have to file a federal return, and probably not state either, but the state return could depend on where you live.

Judy is correct. If you only had $1400 income for the whole year, what did you live on? That wouldn't buy me food for a year and I'm single.
