Everyone's coming down on you pretty hard, but maybe it's just a bit confusing. You see, to be a Christian, you're technically a follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Since he actually is Jesus Christ, he might be the originator of Christianity, but it's hard to say that he called himself a Christian. Certainly nowhere in the bible does it say Jesus refered to himself as a Christian.

Yes, he's the starting point of the Christian faith (hence the word 'Christian') - but he was born to jewish parents and raised jewish, under jewish laws, in jewish temples.

You could make the argument that he became other than jewish when he was baptised by John The Baptist...

You make no sense at all... The actual term "Christian" came from him being crusified on a cross. There could have been no Christians until he was Crusified. Jesus Christ refered to himself as the long awaited Messiah that Jews have been waiting for for thousands of years. By the way, they are still waiting for him. I live in a Jewish Community and the signs "messiah is coming" are all over the place. Even Christians call him the Messiah. Jesus said " I am the Messiah you have been waiting for!" and the Jewish religious leaders said "...No, you are not..."

Look, if you want to be a Christian, you should at least read up on your facts before making an argument. I have met some very intelligent Christians, and they have made me question everything, because they had their facts straight. You should try it, before you ask your questions in person and someone calls you an idiot.

Being a Christian means that you follow Christ. How is Jesus going to follow himself.
Considering that he followed the OT Law all of his life and became the fulfillment of the sacrifice, I would say that qualified him as Jewish.

Mary became a Christian after Jesus death because before that time you would still have had to followed OT Law and offer the Jewish sacrifices for the forgiveness of sins.

Believing that Jesus is the Son of God does not automatically make you a Christian. You must believe and choose to follow the teachings of Christ. There are a lot of people who believe and choose to live their own life the way they want.

Jesus was a Jewish man. Judaism is a belief system and then there is the fact of being born Jewish, as in a people group. Even after the Jewish people accept Jesus as their Savior they are not considered "Christians" but they are Completed Jews.

Jesus was actually a Jew. He was born into a Jewish family, from a Jewish line, and was technically Jewish. But of course he brought true Christianity into the world by dying for us. There are many Jewish people who believe in Jesus, and they are called Messianic Jews. They keep their Jewish heritage and customs, but believe everything Christians believe, and consider themselves Christians who are also Jewish. It's kinda complicated, but in heritage, Jesus was Jewish.

Jesus was a Jew because His parents were Jewish. Christians only started to exist later, bringing His message to the whole world. Jesus was even preaching in Jewish temples during His Ministry. On the cross according to traditions, it was written "King of the Jews".

Jesus was the son of God and was a Jew by nationality. Some words have more than one meaning. A Jew can be a Christian at the same time.

The definition of a Christian is "Someone who follows Christ". Jesus didn't follow himself.

ALso, in Jewish tradition, there is the belief of "Once a Jew, Always a Jew". This means that no matter what he did or said, as long as he was born of a Jewish mother, he was ethnically Jewish himself.

Judaism is MUCH more than a religion. It is a race of people.

wow you are really reaching. yes Jesus knew he was the Son of God but he was still Jewish. he still obeyed all the laws in the Old Testament. the only things he changed was helping people on the Sabbath and stopped all the rituals the Pharisees added that made it impossible not to sin. and then when he died he ended the need for sacrifices. so if being a Christian means ignoring the Old Testament and not truly following the way he lived. then i am not a Christian. i am just a Child of God sister of Jesus who truly tries to live her life the way her savior lived his!

Because he was king of the Jews. He was born into a Jewish family and lived that way during his life. Yes he was the son of God but aren't the Jewish(Israelites) Gods chosen people?
