My dog Cheyeanne has recently started doing this as well but not with every bone once in a while she gets one that seems extra special and she likes to go out dig a hole even if she doesnt bury it and eat the bone by the hole almost as if she wants to eat in privacy and not have any of us bug her that and if anyone walks by her when outside she shoves it in the hole real fast and scoops a big pile of dirt on it. It's natural and its just your dogs doggy senses kicking in he probably wants to go to a little spot thats kind of all his own and not a high traffic area in the house or even a quiet spot in the house its just he wants to go eat it and the anxiety its like he has the urge to and if he cant fulfill that urge part of him panics.

Dogs do want to bury them and save them for later, and they can't do that inside a house, as far as the anxiety attacks over them, the dog is torn between can't bury inside, but if I bury outside I can't protect it cause I live inside and other dogs or critters will find and take my bone, oh my God, oh my God, Oh my God, what do I do. Shut her into one particular bedroom each time with the bone and see if that helps, or do what I did and get a bone box. Several of my dogs were like that, so I gathered up all the bones they had taken outside and put them into a little carboard box which I ripped the top off of and I put it into a very under traveled part of the house in a quiet corner. Guide the dog to that box and show him whats in it and he will eventually get the idea that they are all there and safe, and no one including you will get them. He will feel special to have his very own bone box.

My dogs all do the same thing, it's instinct. It may seem like a waste of money, but your dog will dig it up another day and eat it.

Why? I don't know, maybe they just like the taste better when it's covered in mud. Don't worry though, it's natural.

I know all about this!! I have three st. Benards! well sometimes its to bury it outside for a natural instinct, or they just want a nice private place to go to eat it. It's not a big deal..

i only have one dog too, he does the same. He does that because he wants to eat his bone without anybody bothering him. that mean being by him or waching him becase he thinks you going to take back the bone and take it away from him. so he goes outside to be by himself.

He just wants something for entertainment while outside, just let him take them outside...he'll always find them later!
