I prefer knowing that I can be found if abducted, or lost in the woods, or whatever.
Don't be so paranoid!

I really feel sorry for those who would answer that there cannot be any negatives. Every government that has ever existed has demonstrated that it will try and control it's own citizens sooner or later. It's bad enough to think of how much personal information our governments store in databases (much of it inaccurate or incomplete)... the thought of government being able to store up *accurate* information as to my movements and whereabouts gives me the creeps.
Again and again the argument is brought forth, "if you have nothing to hide, then why be afraid?" The answer is, you can be *in the right* and still have plenty to hide, especially when certain kinds of thoughts, beliefs and dissident political activities are outlawed. Just ask the Salem witches, Trotskyites in the emerging Soviet Union, Jews in Nazi Germany, etc. History is full of religious and political dissenters being persecuted by their own governments under color of law.

There is good and bad to having a GPS on your cell phone.
If you become lost or need to be found GPS is suddenly your best friend. However, If the cops just found the bodies under your house then it might be in your best interests to stay away from all technology altogether.

If you can turn it off it is fine. They are putting them in phones designed for children so parents can keep track of the phones (and the children). However, the info should only go to the parents, and the phone owner should be able to turn it off.
GPS is expensive. I don't really see them being put into the 'one time use' phones wal-mart sells, which I have read are the tool of choice for terrorists.

Good and bad. It can be good if someone needs help & then cannot complete the message for the police or fire dept. It can be a bad thing if someone finds a way to track you who you don't want to find you. For example, I am a survivor of domestic abuse. My life was in danger. I had 4 addresses in one year and I had a good job. It could have had disastrous results if he had found a way to track me.

very good thing. if i need to track my teenager through her cell phone, i say awesome! the government knowing where i am does not bother me. why? because i have done nothing to make them say "oh there she is we need to see where she's going." yeah that's right, i'm one of the good guys.
