I think the whole idea of the Oscars has just become the celebration for the rich.

You would think that they didn't need any more reassurance in their lives. They're freaking rich. You would think it would be the other way around.

It makes just about as much sense as this answer did.

A bit over-indulgent, perhaps.

However, any group's awards ceremony honors the people involved in that group. Why should being rich exclude someone from being honored for their work?

The main problem is that the standard of Oscar is deterioriating drastically. It is no longer an indication of good movies. All five nominations for best pictures are really crap.
