If a person were to consume only a small amount of alcohol
would it be more likely that they actually believed they were intoxicated (Placebo Effect) or that they were acting/ pretending they were intoxicated for the benefit of saying so. (Benefit: Peer Acceptance or getting away with more)

Also, If someone was given a piece of gum and was told it had a powerful hallucinogen (Acid/LSD) would that person more likely actually believe that they were experiencing hallucinations or acting like they were having them?

Also:
How much of a role does body weight play when it comes to substance tolerance?
Does experience with consuming the substance have anything to do with it at all?

I would also like scientific back-up/ sources (if you have any), please.

This is what I told : "n0tsan3",if it helps.

I might be paranoid about people acting drunk, but my friend is about 260 pounds and he claims that 2 shot "do him in" or get really drunk, granted he doesn't drink a lot. Call me crazy, but I find that hard to believe.
about the acid thing.
I was just giving a few of my friends some gum out of an Orbit White package and one of my dumbass friends said " ooo is that gum?" and I replied, very sarcastically "Nah its acid."
basically my other friend laughed his *** off but fueled the fire that it really was acid. The kid who thought it was acid started saying he was seeing stuff. Now months later I was just arguing with 260 lb. friend about it last night, he believed that the dude really thought he was hallucinating. There was no harm intended on my part.
but I am curious about how strong a placebo can be.
i am fully aware that i could definitely be wrong, i try to be open-minded.

About the acid question, the person would be actually thinking that they are tripping. People do not do things to be cool as much as you seem to think and even if they are, hardly anyone would fake effects of any substance. One more thing, it is not cool to give people gum in place of lsd just to observe they way they act. Unless they know that they are part of an experment, that is highly unethical. I know a lot of people get a kick out of doing things like that, but if the person finds out it can effect them in a bad way(more ways than you are probably thinking). If you are looking for a good subject to research, look at the psychological effects that experimenting with things like that on people who do not give consent, you might be suprised at the damage it can cause.

I think experience consuming the substance has a great effect on it. People who are alchoholics first build up an amazing tolerance and can drink let's say 12 beers without appearing drunk. Then as alchoholism progresses over months or years , they get drunk on 2 beers or so.

I have a friend who weighs only 90 lbs and she can drink me under the table and I weigh at least 50 lbs more.
I do also believe in the placebo effect. I would most likely think I was on an acid trip with that gum. It sounds silly but I was getting tipsy once on some nonalcholic eggnog, thinking it was spiked. lol.

If you were an alcoholic....you could pound down a twelve pack and feel nothing since your tolerance has increased tremendously.

As far as the "acting"....they actually could get buzzed on one drink if it's strong enough and they are light drinkers...and REAL tiny

I can't see how anyone can "act" like they are on acid. LSD is too powerful a drug. Maybe they think since you're all drunk that he/she thinks they can play this off.

Body weight does play a part on how intoxicated you get....no matter what the drug(booze is a drug). Repeated usage of anything develops a tolerance...meaning you need more to get the same effect. That's over a few months....not overnight

Just tell your "friend" they're full of chit and get it over with...LOL

Let's get this clear body weight and how fast you consume your alcohol has everything to do with being intoxicated. A 260 lb. man can not be drunk on 2 drinks unless he drank on top of other medication. But a 100 lb. woman who doesn't drink on a regular basis could be sloshed. I wish I had the chart that is posted in my state at every bar and restaurant that serves alcohol. I would share it with you. But I do remember this alcohol in the system doesn't peak for 4 hrs. There is a link below that has a blood alcohol chart check it out!

Ummmmmm, 1st of all, that's like 4 questions.... ;)

Alcohol effects people different ways. 2 shots might mess someone up at 1st, but not have too big of an effect. Especially on a big guy...

And your friend is faking the acid thing - for sure

maybe with the alcohol they would think they were drunk, but I don't think so about the gum. Anyways acid gives you a trip kinda where your'e somewhere else... I never done it but if they were trippin balls they would know!! With tolerances I think they build up on you after a while.

Fumbble while talking, walking like a strengthless man, rub your eyes till it becomes reddish, untuck your shirt & rinze your clothes. Make your hair look ugly.
