I volunteer one day a week at a food pantry/soup kitchen .
We are completely volunteer-run, and we make money by selling donated shoes, clothes and household goods. In our shop everything is 50 cents.
One organization you may want to contact is called "Angel Food ministries". They make up bags of food for their clients (about 1 wks worth) and the clients can buy the bags for $25. each, or use food stamps. It is usually very nice food, much better than the standard PB&J, mac & cheese, and beans.
Good luck.
