It all depends on how fast you go through a loaf of bread. I like fresh bread that is not refridgerated, but I do not eat alot of bread. So, I buy the mini loafs of bread and that seems to fix the problem. If I must put the bread in the fridge, I usually microwave it for a few seconds when I take it out. It gets rid of that cold, stiff bread feel.
But, I would start by leaving it out. If ya notice that you are tossing half a loaf of bread because of mold, then ya might start putting it in the ice box. Good luck.

It's a matter of taste. It's said that bread keeps longer in a refrigerator, but I think that can be debatable. To help you keep your bread fresher, no matter what you decide, there are 2 websites that offer containers for this purpose (we got ours yrs. ago from a grocery store, but I don't know if the store has it now (Krogers)). The user places the bread down into the container, unsealing the bread and folding the wrapper around the top. Holding the sides of the wrapper down, the bread pushes to the top until the loaf is gone. They're around $7.99 and worth the dough.

I was curious too so I checked and found out that white bread should be kept in a dry dark place like a drawer or breadbox. I read somewhere once that refrigerating bread does something to the gluten and chemicals causing a change in texture. But if you are not going to be eating it for a while , like on a trip, you can freeze it then set it out to come to room temp. doesn't take long.My daughter buys it 4 loaves at a time and freezes what she doesn't need.

I assume that you mean white bread. If it is commercially baked
(such as Wonder, Schwebel's, Pepperidge Farm, etc.) it does not need to be refrigerated because it has a high preservative content. If it fresh baked bread from a local bakery ( or home baked) then it should be refrigerated after a couple of days, since it doesn't have any preservatives.

I don't eat white bread very often, so I normally am buying it for a specefic purpose, and I therefore leave it out.
I don't ever touch that "Wonderbread" type stuff, but I think there are so many chemicals in it you can leave it on top of a heater for a year and it is still the same. (But don't take my word on that!!!)
I also keep a loaf or two of dense 12 grain types in the freezer for making toast with. Keeps forever that way.

All bread, unless it's refrigerated dough, is left out.
By putting bread (regardless of type) in a refrigerator or freezer, you're actually causing the most important and crucial nutrients to die from the freeze.

I prefer my bed out the fridge - I sleep better that way.
Seriously, I have a bread box, and I find that it really does a good job of keeping bread fresh.

Never refridgerate bread of any kind. It will turn tough right away. With all breads I freeze it immediatly. When defrosted it comes out exactly the way it went in. Of course only take out what you need (toast, sandwitch, etc.) & the rest will stay eternally fresh until you need it!

I would leave it out. Cold bread doesn't typically taste very good and it is just better if you leave it out. if however you want it to last longer than you would put it in the freezer.
