The piercing shouldn't be changed at all for a while. Plus, I'm pretty sure that your school will still be against you using a plastic retainer. Since you still have a facial piercing.

You should have waited until your done school.

You need to leave your lip ring in for at least 3 weeks before changing it if you just got it pierced...if you change it now you'll get an infection and it could close up! When it's healed in 3 weeks you can take it out and get a piercer to change it for you, and give you a steralized retainer.

***This is important, I just asked my friend who's a piercer and she said it is DEFINITELY a big no no to even think of changing your jewelry before 3 weeks of having it done...your piercer should have told you this?!?!

****Sorry and I have to add one more thing, my suggestion would be (and the only thing you can do unless you want an infection) is to either a) take it out and LEAVE it out...it will close up in 3 days...OR leave it in (without changing the jewelry!!) and tell your teachers that you didn't know you couldnt change the jewelry right away, and that you risk a severe infection if you do...and that in three weeks time you will be able to wear a clear retainer. That's about all you can do!

This falls under the category of "Bad Ideas". You don't want to put something else in there, because you *will* get an infection, and that will require medical treatment. You also can't leave it in at school because you will get in trouble and are putting your education at risk.

So just take it out, let it heal over, call it a dumb move, and wait until you have the time and ability to do it right.
