However you build it...not too much taco & lots of lime juice...that's my fave. A little mexican white cheese on top. In all of my travels in Mexico, this soup is very light & simple: clear broth, the usual vegetables, tortillas & cheese. It's not thick or over seasoned (until you get down with the offered condiments!)

Brown 2 pounds of ground beef with 1 large diced onion. Add 2 packages taco seasoning and 1 package of dry ranch style dressing mix. Add: 3 cans stewed tomatoes
2 cans pinto beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can golden hominy
1 can whole kernel corn
2 cans Ro Tel tomatoes

Have large pan to cook in. Serves 8 to 10 big eaters.

I make up taco meat (burger, onion, garlic, jalapeno, taco seasoning) and then add a can of diced tomatoes, some canned beans, and as much beef or chicken broth until it's the desired consistency. And serve it with sour cream, guac, and chips on top.

Ground beef, browned and drained. Kidney beans, ranch beans, onions, tad of celery, tomato juice, and taco seasoning..some people add about 1/4 packet of dry ranch dressing...but that is up to your tastes....the ranch is better in Santa Fe soup.....and you can add some corn to your taco soup....just add all to your own liking....GREAT!

I always use a can of corn, black beans, mexican stewed tomatoes, beef broth, rice (pre-cooked), browned ground beef or shredded chicken and a package of Taco Seasoning - any brand will.

Yum!...rice, browned & drained burger, canned green chiles, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, navy beans, black olives, and a cup or so of picante or salsa.
I would fry some corn tortillas (cut into strips) in a little oil until crispy, and garnish with them.
Good luck....and what time are we eating? lol!

I put celantro in my chicken/taco soup, top it with cheese and round tortilla chips.
