I think I know where you're coming from. Leading a Christian life (as apposed to being a good Christian) is pretty difficult in today's PC world. We had a series of sermons a while back at our church, on the fruits of the Spirit:- Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control. I think you need to have these to lead a meaningful Christian life - and to have these, you need to be filled with the Spirit. We were told that we will constantly need a re-fill. In short, leading a Christian life can be a bumpy ride. I hope this answers your question.

It's difficult, but rewarding. People can hate you, but you get many friends, even amongst strangers.

The apostle paul said that he had a war with his flesh, when he wanted to do what was right, he did what was bad. (Romans 7:13-25) I have the same trouble, but like Paul, I have a great help in God.

I've been trying for twenty years on and off, and I still don't feel anywhere near adequate. It often bothers me but this is just me. Perhaps just as often I love learning and growing and living the Christian life.

Christians are not necessarily more righteous than anyone else, but they have access to information (the Bible) which helps us to see what God's purpose is for mankind and the Earth. For instance, Psalm 37 highlights how the Earth will be inherited by the meek and that they will find great pleasure in living here. Needless to say, this means a radical change on the Earth. Revelation 21 verses 3 and 4 show that the dead will be resurrected to perfect, healthy, eternal life. This information gives me great hope and helps me to carry on in my struggle to improve.

I would highly recommend it to anyone, here's a website where you can get more information.

why does everybody knock Church so much? Without Church you would not know the meaning of "corporate blessing" which is indeed a different level of blessing from doing it by yourself. Without Church there would be no Worship with others of like faith which is tremendous power in itself. Without Church there would be no "teaching" and therefore nothing for everyone on Yahoo Answers to complain about and argue about. But if you have a Church building for all these services, teachings, outreaches, missions projects, humanitarian aide etc etc - then it COSTS MONEY. Bills have to be paid, supplies purchased, handouts of food, and other aide have to be paid for - Insurance costs, repair costs etc, etc. Salaries are the least of the money pyramid in a Church. In my Church the Pastor does not receive a salary or any money - everything is strictly volunteer. My feelings on leading a Christian life is expressed in my support of the Church and its mission. The Church is a visual representation of Christ to the community it serves. It is the place of God's Presence and called by His name. The Church is there to uphold you, pray for you, visit you when your sick or disaster strikes your family or you need a funeral or wedding or 1,001 other Life Events that need additional support that will help you through things you have to face. But the number one reason for Church is to declare to the world, to myself and to satan that I place God first in my life and I will serve Him to the best of my ability. God's word says "do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together as the manner of some is, so much more as you see the day approaching (the rapture)."

the church has had scandals in the past and is sure to have some more, the church is full of sinners however this does not negate the importance of the church. for a good example of the christian life the writings of the early church fathers are always good and looking to the saints is always beneficial, even if you are not catholic you can see the christian life through the saints.

Leading a Chirstian life only requires that you follow the teachings of Jesus. The church, or any other organization, has to be human-oriented by definition. The two are usually in conflict, for the church may not be religious when it discovers how much power it has.

I would say my feelings on leading a Christian life is just about getting out there and planting seeds. Go tell people. But not just tell them about your faith, SHOW them.
There is some program out there, I'm not sure what company it's through, but it's a four-sermon series and on the 5th sunday, the program calls for churches to cancel church and go work in the community. To me, this is a very real point.

Christianity isn't about showing up to church on Sunday. It's about serving in the name of God.

"Let us hear the conculsion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments for this is the whole duty of a man." Ecclesiastes 12:13.

Sounds like the wisest man to ever live (other than Jesus I would presume) knew the secret. Respect God (the essence of fearing God), love God, love mankind (the essence of the ten commandments).... really....is there anything else to be said?

i think youre right. i never really understood what people need to belong to a church for. surely all you need to know is that gods in your heart and you've accepted him as your saviour. anyone who askes for 10% of your cash has an alterior motive.
i think if you lead a christain lifestyle you are not too far off the right track. treat people the right way as you would like to be treated yourself and you'll be ok
