Personally, I love cruising, but as with most things, it is not for everyone. Cruising is great if you just want to sit back, relax and be pampered for your whole vacation. Depending on the line, the services is usually excellant and the for spectacular.

There are different cruise lines for different travelers, for example Carnival is for a partier, while lines like Cunard are for more "sophisticated" travelers. So, just about anyone can find something that they will enjoy.

The biggest problem with cruises is that you don't get to spend much time in the port. I travel enough that I like to enjoy the time on the ship, the time in the ports is just a bonus. I take some cruises and don't even get off at the ports, depending on where I am going. However, if you really want to visit a port, Grand Cayman for example, and you really want to spend a lot of time there, then a all inclusive resort may be a better choices for you. But, if you would rather spend a shorter amount of time at several ports, than cruising should be perfect for you. For certain destinations, there are one way cruises where you can either go to or come from that port, allowing you more time there.

Good luck with your planning!

Yes ! I have been on two. The first one was a Caribbean cruise and we went to Jamaica, The Grand Caymans, and Cozumel. We left port on Saturday afternoon and spent the next six days and nights eating, sleeping, and sightseeing in some of the neatest places I've ever been. Seriously did NOT want to get off the ship when it was time to come home. Then this past fall we tried one of the new cruises called Free-styling where it felt like we were on a floating hotel. We got on the ship, and ate dinner and slept, then almost every day when we woke up we were in a different place. On the first cruise, it is a lot more formal, with the dining specified by place, dress, and time, as well as the people that you will be seated with. whereas the free-style, you pick where, when, what and sometimes who you eat with. It all depends on what you want, as well as what you can afford. The first cruise, we had an outside balcony room which was expensive, but WONDERFUL! The second cruise we were inside, and granted small, but sufficient, especially since we did not spend much time in the room other than to sleep, shower, and change clothes.

Cruising is a wonderful way to take a simple vacation. Just take the time when you get ready to start booking to decide what sort of activities that you want to do, if any at all. There would be nothing wrong with sitting by the pool everyday (in the right climate,of course) doing nothing if that is the way you want to spend your vacation. There are a lot of things to do on board, a lot of things to do off ship and a lot of people that are there to ensure that you have a wonderful time, because it is YOU that is on vacation. There are many activities to do off ship, some can be expensive, some less so.

I can't wait to go again!

I just returned from my 4th. Loved the first 3; putted through the last one. NCL lets you eat whenever, wherever, so you don't feel like you "must" be somewhere all the time. That is nice. Carnival has this "McDonald's" chain feel. The menus are the same, uniforms, rooms, etc. You get what you pay for. Cruises are great to try, and some people only do cruise vacations. Depends on your taste. I loved it at first but now I'm cruised out.

If you shop around, cruises can be the best value for your vacation dollar. There is lots to do on board, or just relax and do nothing. The food and entertainment is excellent, and for the most part included in the price. However if you like to drink alot, that will cost you. You are allowed to bring wine aboard, bu not beer or hard stuff.

Absolutely. These are the best vacations out there. They can be some of the cheapest (especially if you go in the off-season). You get to see many places without having to deal with the hassle of moving luggage from hotel to hotel, and the service is amazing onboard. You get food and entertainment included, and it is the best food and entertainment you will find just about anywhere. Have no doubts, cruising is great!

Cruises are awesome! I went on a Carnival cruise and it was fabulous. More excellent food than you can imagine any time of day or night, drinks at any time, even delivered to your room, comedy shows, musical shows, contests, shore excursions, shopping, playing slots, dancing, there's never a dull moment.

Mine was 7 days long, and as fun as it was, we were ready to go home and relax. Because the whole time it was go-go-go-go the entire time we were awake.

Whatever you want, they provided it.

I LOVE cruising!!! Honestly, there isn't one thing that I can don't like about them.
I've been on Princess, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and NCL & loved them all!

Be prepared, however, to spend more than the inital cost of the trip b/c shore excursions are pricey & tips are additional.

They are the best money can buy, You have your room, they have casinos, shops and shows, all the food and drink you can have 24 hours (accept soft drinks you can pay for all day pass) and (accept for alcohol). You can sneak in a few bottles of coke and water in you main bags (I recommend it).

I went on a 5 day to Mexico Cozumel and Calais, it was great but it rain in Cozumel. Take extra money $400-800 to pay for port of call excursions and shopping.
