I did a "Pamper the Bride" shower.
The ideas was to give gifts that were a bit beyond "toasters and blenders" as they already had most of that stuff. But personally I don't like theme showers where you are told what to buy, I have found a lot of people buy what they want anyway and then the people that spent forever finding something that follows the rules gets irritated.
I put that we were going to shower the bride with "gifts that would either pamper the birde, make her home more special or help her to keep the romance alive." This allowed for a wide variety of gifts - since there was everyone there from work friends, to grandmas, to her close girlfriends.
I also had a "honeymoon" bag (a black pillowcase I embellished a bit) and explained in the invitation If they choose, they may bring a small gift, note of advice, or other tasteful but “appropriate” item to be placed in a sack before the bride gets to see it. Then the bag will be tied and not to be opened…until their honeymoon.
It was a lot of fun because it allowed people to give those gifts that might embarrass the bride to open in front of everyone.
As for games - Personally, I don't like playing them. So we just did bridal gift bingo, and how well does the groom know the bride and visa versa. There are a lot of good ideas if you just search "bridal shower games."
Good Luck.

The theme for my bridal shower was "Around the Clock." Guests had to bring a present that made sense for the time of day they were assigned. It was fun for me because I got presents for every time of the day!

I went to a shower once that had a really fun game that everyone liked. It's a waste of toilet paper, but this is how it went.
Everyone except the bride and the hostesses were put into groups of 4. Each group was given several rolls of toilet paper and they had to make one of the group members into a bride with it. People got creative really quickly and the girl chosen would come out with her "bride" outfit. The bride would then choose the best one and that entire group would win a prize. Have fun whatever you do!

I have given showers where each guest is asked to bring a recipe, a utensil used in making the recipe, and an ingredient. The bride gets a lot of good recipes, and it sparks a lot of conversation.
