Why does some bacteria look purple and why some look pink after the Gram staining process?

There are two types: Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Gram-negative is pink, and Gram-positive is purple. The difference between them is their cell walls. Gram-positive has much more peptidoglycan than the other.

It has to do with the chemical composition of their cell walls.
