I'm 13, 5'8, and weigh 202. I need a major long term weight loss plan. One reason That I do want to lose X ammount of weight by June-August, is because I want to be able to get in to First stage theater, I know I am a good enough actress, but I also know because of my "appearence" I fit know character desription, especially for my age. My mom and I are going to start going to curves soon, but not soon enough. What I mean by that is, she won't take me until my forensics season is over, and once it is over I'll be less busy. But I want to be able to exercise, and stuff before 2 more weeks, if that makes any sense.

Well, whoever answers this SERIOUSLY, Thanks! ^-^

I'm sorry but the "Lemonade Diet" seems too much like becoming anerexic. I mean I would drink it, but I'd also eat, probably healthier, but another thing, if anything my mom would figure out what I was doing and have me eat. plaus, that sounds DISCUSTING!!!

Whatever you do, make sure your mother knows what routine and eating habits you are following because there are a lot of crazy diet plans out there, and you want to make sure you are practicing healthy eating habits and exercises. So always consult with your mother about what you are doing.

Although losing weight the correct and healthy way really does take time, here are some simple steps you can take to get you started:

1.) Walking is good. In doors or out doors. If you walk out doors make sure you walk in a safe area where other people are around and maybe take a friend or two with you. Try to get some advice from your mom about starting a walking program.

2.) Cut back on junk foods (soda pop, candy, ice cream, potato chips, cup cakes, etc.). Instead, try to eat foods that are more healthy for you (vegetables, fruits, proteins, fiber, whole grain breads, etc.).

3.) Try to replace white products with whole grain products (eat brown rice instead of white rice, eat whole grain breads instead of white breads, etc.).

4.) Drink water.

5.) Do NOT go on a diet because you need to eat regularly, but just make sure the foods you eat are healthy for you.

6.) Lastly, don't try to lose weight too quickly because it really is not healthy for you to lose weight too fast. Some of the tips I have given you are meant to be life long practices that you will follow. Talk to you mom about these to see if she thinks they are good tips for you.

Of course there are more things you can do, and you may need to modify my advice to fit your needs), but as long as you learn (read books, talk to your mom and doctor, etc.) and practice good health habits you will be on the way to living a healthy life for the rest of your life.

I know getting into First stage theater is important to you, but your overall health is more important so don't put too much stress on yourself by trying to lose weight too quickly. It takes time if you do it right. There will always be plays you can audition for, but you will only have one body so take care of yourself and you will be glad you did when you get older.

Good luck.

Baby, I feel your pain. I have fought this all my life. Right now I am waiting for my insurance company to approve for me to have gastric lap band surgery. I am tall like you. You may also grow some more but anyway I have had pretty good luck with Slim Fast Diet plan. Also Weight Watchers worked for a while but you have to keep going. I have also used the Glysemic Index Diet and lost 25 lbs real easily. The main thing is to forget you have ever seen potatoes and bread. Eat lots of protein and salads, fruit and vegetables. Stay away from sodas (regular or diet),drink lots of water, diet green teas or decaff tea. You need to drink at least 8-8oz glasses of water a day. My doctor said that caffeine stimulates your appetite. I know it will be hard but it will be worth it. You also may still have what they call baby fat. Do you have an athletic program at your school. Track season is starting. That is really good exercise. Just eat healthy and forget about all the hamburger, pizza, and junk food joints. It's hard being a teenager I have a 13 year old and is diabetic. You think that isn't a train wreck trying to keep him in line. You really need to see your doctor first and see if he can help. Good luck and I will praying for you.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

I think the best way to burn calories fast is running, just get out there and run, at first it may be really hard and not fun but after a while you'll feel great and love the feeling you get. I would cut out soft drinks as they are empty calorie and diet soda can make weightloss more difficult. Green Tea is great for your metabolism. Just remember that whatever you decide to do has to be a lifetime commitment, it can't just be a crash diet bc the second you go back to eating more and not working out, it will come back. I would just find something you can live with and everyones different, for me, its counting calories because I know I can eat whatever I want, just not all on the same day. Alot of people say thats too time consuming but it gets to where it just comes naturally and you can look at a meal and estimate pretty close on the cals. Just remember that everything gets easier with time and to just stick with it, when it gets tough just push through, good luck and I hope you reach your goals!

Hi Lil I really feel sorry for over weight people a few times in my life I was getting pretty big and it felt horrid so I can imagine how you feel. Instead of dieting, try this reduce all your meat intake. If you go vegetarian you'll lose weight because your body isn't getting meat and you can go with out meat. This way your body will eat the fat that is stored. Go on line to see about vegetarian cooking and you can also go to book stores. Todays meat has a lot of growth hormones steroids and anti biotics so once you stop eating meats in about 3 months you'll start to feel better because you gotten all the chemicals out of your body.

First off, Curves is great. I used to go (I'm in college and can't afford it anymore).
One thing that will really help is if you cut back on salty foods in the long-term and drink more water (about 10 glasses of 8 oz of water each is a good amount for trying to lose weight). Make sure you avoid eating in front of the television or the computer, and eat only in one place (or as few places as possible) to designate those places as "eating places". If you allow yourself to eat wherever you're at, you're more likely to eat randomly rather than when you need it, at meals.
It's important to exercise at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes each time, but don't overdo it.
A lot of foods that people love are offered in lower fat and lower sodium products. If you like ice cream, buy reduced fat (most flavours and brands won't taste different). If you like milk, go with 2% rather than whole.
Laughing Cow cheese is very good cheese-wise, and The Skinny Cow is a great ice cream bar brand. Lays offer baked versions of a lot of their chips, as well.

If you want something soup-ish to drink, buy some boullion cubes in chicken or beef flavor. Dissolve it in 8-10 ounces of hot water and you'll have a nice broth to eat, for only 5 calories per cube. I'm a spicy food person, so I like to add tabasco to it, but I know a lot of people who add green onions and mushrooms, as well.

Also, a web search for negative calorie foods might help. These are fruits and vegetables that take more calories to eat and digest then the food has in them. Some examples are apples, lettuce, and carrots.

Good luck!

Also, exercise-wise, you should be able to find a lot of free exercises on the web, and check your local library for books and videos of exercise you can check out!

low saturated fats, low simple carbohydrates, daily exercise. eat breakfast every day, drink plenty of water, don't eat after dinnertime. eat plenty of vegetables that grow above the ground (so few potatoes--emphasize the green leafy veggies). i've tried a hundred diets and this is the only way i've been successful--have kept off 80lb for more than 10 years. fast weight loss never results in lasting results--take your time, do it right and you'll be happy with the results. also, weigh yourself daily--i think the constant feedback is essential in self-monitoring. check out the national weight control registry http://www.nwcr.ws/ for tips common to long-term weight losers. good luck to you!
