Yes, it's illegal. It's also why a lawsuit has been filed against Limewire by the RIAA - because they have allowed music piracy on a massive scale. The case goes to trial in May, and the RIAA won $115,000,000.00 recently in a similar case. The RIAA has also filed lawsuits against about 20,000 people for illegally downloading music as well as sharing it. While the minimum fine is $750.00 per song (and the maximum is $150,000.00 per song), they usually settle for somewhere around $10,000.00.

I download from LimeWire all the time, and I do burn Cd's. I'm not a hundred percent sure, but it probably isn't legal.

I suppose it could be called, Copyright Infringement.

But I honestly don't believe it will hurt to listen to the downloads on your computer, if you are concerned.

Hopefully that helps!

if you did not pay a fee for download it is an offense that can be prosecuted in the US.
The music industry has been known to go after kids as young as 8. Its not a risk i am willing to take.
Limewire is full of viruses too.

Yes, according to the music industry you are still knowingly downloading music that you did not purchase, therefore essentially stealing it.

Have you ever been told it's illegal? Its the same thing as sharing music with your friend. If it was illegal, they would have shut it down by now.

Im not going to lie to you, yes... It is considered pirating.
The program itself is not illegal, it is considered "peer to peer sharing", the uploading of files onto your computer is the illegal part.

in american it's illegal to download...

I think it's better to buy cds and support the band that way...but whatever floats your boat!
