i just painted my living/dining room last weekend with a beigey color i love, but its looking a little blah now. couch is purple, chair and 1/2 and is army green, side chair purple. white trim and dark mohagany tv armoire, sofa table and book case. curtains are a darker beige chenille. anyone have an idea for an accent color? i was thinking red, but i'd like some other options. i'd like to bring in this color with pillows, accessories and artwork. specific items much appreciated. thank you!

I would go with a dark red and golds. The purple green, gold and red make me think of a vineyard. You can easily find artwork in that theme. Red, gold & beige toss pillows, throw, candles & pottery. Candle wall sconces are nice with this look too.

Google the color wheel and you will see that if you form a triangle with purple and green being two points on the triangle that the third point is red-orange. This is a good "pop" color for your decor as it will wake up those beige walls without overwhelming. A couple of candles, maybe a nice large ceramic vase or even some glase vases with single blooms ( I'm thinking Gerbera Daisies in that warm orangey red hue ) would be terrific accents.
Have fun! :)

Actually the living room/dining room should have been painted more of a soft creamy warm gold. Then you would have accented it with pillows and accessories in the gold. Soft gold goes beautiful with purple and olive green...If it is not too much of big deal, I would repaint the LR/DR. Red would be too garish, because you already have alot of purple and the green. Too many primary colors. What I would do is go to the paint store and buy a small bottle of the soft creamy warm gold color and put it on each wall, and I guarantee you it will tie the rooms together adding so much warmth. Drapes should be neutral...but go with gold in the pillows, some accessories and some yellow gold in your artwork along with other colors in your color scheme. I wish you well.

i like the soft golds and burnt oranges...i would go with maybe a floral theme to accent..you could even go with a scarf in a shear to drape over your curtains. sounds very interesting..
