Go ask any mechanic, including myself, Mobil 1 Synthetic is the best on the market, and now with the extended performance quality, and a mobil 1 oil filter, you can limit to your oil changes to either 10,000 or 6 months, or 15,000/1 year depending on the extended performace of mobil 1 you get. I have a 04 Focus SVT and a 2000 Ram Air WS6 Trans Am, mobil 1 is the only thing I've run in the last 10 years and it hasn't failed me yet.

I suggest using Motorcraft oil.
A old g/f's father once told me that with his experience, he had noticed that things worked better if you used what the factory used for each make and model, and after awhile I had to agree with him.
For the Mustang, that would be Motorcraft. I am sure that MC makes a synthetic oil.
The ONLY reason I don't use Motorcraft in my Ford diesel, is the limited number of people who keep Motorcraft diesel oil on their shelves. ( I use Castrol RTX for a constant supply factor)
Regarding "Bumbles" reply, the synthetics have double OR MORE time capabilities because the synthetics do not break down as quickly as dinosaur juice does.
The time or extra miles allowed by synthetics washes out to equal the price of conventional oil.

I've always used Quaker State, But all oils are mostly the same. Unless your going to use a synthetic. If you choose to use a synthetic then you should keep using that with every oil change.

you can find the owners manual online

Originally when built, Ford recommended 5w30 oil for either motor but they have revised this in 2001 to 5w20 for all mustangs built since 1994 (except for a few specialty built ones)with 5w30 as an alternative.

Right now, Ford's also recommending a Motorcraft semi-synthetic at it's dealerships for the same price as most quickie lube places (if your wondering about brands and such)

5W-30 motor oil. I would recommend Quaker State, but since you mentioned you want to use synthetic, Mobile 1 synthetic is the best motor oil there is.

I own an 1996 V6 and i use Mobil One synthetic 5W-30. I drive it HARD and it has not failed me yet. The engine itself is stock but with limited slip and 3.73 gears, it revs pretty high.

FYI. Dont put UNLEADED ANYTHING in your block!!!!

Any good name brand 5W30 will work.... I use Valvoline Maxlife and Pennzoil high mileage..... you can go with synthetic if you want, but it is a waste of money.... after all you will be changing it in 3 months.

5w-30 Synthetic Blend. Some people use full synthetic but it is more expensive. Motorcraft Synthetic Blend is factory installed. Castrol SYNTEC Blend 5w-30 is what i would use.

you should be able to use what you had in your other vehicles....it just depends on where you live and what time of the year it is on the weight of oil that you use.
