why does the irs delay efiled refunds an extra week?

e filed through a company and the date to recieve refund was on the 2/23. but the now they say the irs should release the refund on the 3/1/07

The IRS is probably just getting bogged down this time of year. It's no big deal. However, if your refund is delayed another week, there might be some sort of issue with your tax return-missing social security numbers, problem with a credit taken, etc.

Depends on the day you efiled and the time you efiled. If it was not done before 11AM on that particular day---then your refund falls into the next week of direct deposits.

If you filed between Feb 15 (before 11AM) and Feb 22, then you would be scheduled for a direct deposit on March 2. The deposit days are always on a Friday.
