Firstly- try not to cook them. I want you to at least try them as nature intended.
To open, hold the shell with the deep half underneath. Fold a towel over and put the shell in between. Using an oyster knife or similar short stubby knife insert it where the hinge is located, usually the pointy end of the shell.
Insert and twist, forcing the shell open. Make sure you try and keep all of the juices from the shell. The towel is there to protect you.Loosen the oyster meat from the shell and pop down your throat.
Try it with red wine vinaigrette or homemade mayonnaise, or just squeeze of lemon.
If you need to cook it then try and encasing your oyster in a light tempura batter, quickly fried in hot oil. Delicious.

It's called shucking an oyster when you open one < i think i spelt it right > you need a good strong knife insert it between the shell quick twist and your in, as for cooking don't little bit of vinegar and straight down the neck it go's.

Just put them on the bbq....they will open when they are cooked and you can add a dab of butter some crushed garlic and a little hotsauce to each one and let cook for another minute or 2....Oh YUM

Ohhh ya!....My brother did them by wrapping them in bacon securing with a toothpick and then frying them in a good amount {1/2 inch-ish} of olive oil...He called them Angels on horseback and OMG were they good!...Have them with tartar sauce or seafood sauce....Ohhh I'm hungry now!

take an oven mit and put it on your left hane and take a small knife and place the tip at the back of the oyster and push it in a bit. then twist the knife (carefully) and keep moving it until it cracks open. then move the knife around the side of the opening . u should know how to open it fron there.

You have to roast it and they pop open by themselves.
