no. What happens is, after a year in military service, you can apply to be a citizen without having to wait the what is it, ten years? five years? that all other legal permanent residents have to wait. It typicaly takes 6 monts to a year after applying bere it happens, though. They are backed up because so many peoplere taking advanta of it.

Yes and no.

Here is the deal:
After that first year in the National Guard you get to apply BUT the thing is, you are GUARANTEED you will get it. So, it's just a matter of paperwork. You will get the permanent residency status easy and citizenship is in the bag.
