i have been on it for 6 weeks. i haven't really had any side-effects. it have completely cured my depression and it working well on the anxiety. i still struggle with some anxiety, but am able to do everything I want to (I take xanax once in a while, as perscribed by a doc until the lexapro works fully). I though the med would work faster, but I guess compared to many others it works fast. good luck.

Yes, I was for about 6 mo.'s. It was helpful for anxiety, but not with depression. The reason was that Lexapro has side effects. The worse was the 25 pounds I packed on in like 6 wk.'s That then 'caused me to be even more depressed. I no longer take it. It took forever to loose the weight. While I was on it, if I'd of had 3 hands I still wouldn't of choked to death, uncontrollable eating at nights. I went on Prozac & didn't gain weight. Good Luck, hope it works for you, but here's a heads up on side effects. Marie

I tried one dose of it and hated it. I got all kinds of side effects, like headache, lockjaw, nausea (I lost all interest in food, and just looking at food made me want to vomit), lightheadedness, etc, and never took it again. From what I've heard though, if you can tolerate the side effects (which last for a few days they say) it's supposed to be great for depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. It's also supposed to start working faster than most of the other SSRIs (in a week or two, compared to up to six weeks for something like Zoloft). I personally take Zoloft, which has given me no side effects (other than the sexual side effects all SSRIs give), but which is only working ok, not great, at the dose I'm on now (50mg).

I have been on Lezapro now for 2 years. I do find myself much more calmer yet aware of my surroundings. If I forget one dose, I don't know it, but wew ask my wife, she knows when I forget it, same goes for my neighbor, he on it about same time and huge postitive change in us both. first, confer with your doctor, does well with us guys PS, ( see what you women do to us ) kidding
