such as moving from M249 to M203 without change of mos?

It alll depends on your billet in the fireteam. Team Leaders as weel as Pointman are issued the M16A4 (my company). The Assistant Gunner is issued the M203. The Automatic Gunner is issued the M249. It also goes by seniority too. Team Leader, Gunner, A-Gunner, and Pointman.

I served in the Corps for 6 years as a Machine gun squad leader. If your MOS is machine guns or mortars your are kinda stuck. But as far as your question regarding 249's and 203's, these are sqaud placed weapons so anyone can carry these as you were all trained on them in boot camp. You will be issued your weapon when you get to your unit( probably a m-16A2) but if you want one of these others, request it right away with your platoon leader. You may have to wait til somone PCS's but bug them enough and you will get it!!!
