I've used photoshop/illustrator for years but using it for precise layouts for my web design class is a pain! Is there a program more suited to this? I have heard of Adobe InDesign and Fireworks, are either of these better?

For web layouts? Illustrator really isn't made for that. Adobe has GoLive, which I haven't used personally (though I do have the program, I need to give it a shot sometimes). InDesign is a page layout program for magazines, books, etc. Macromedia Dreamweaver is a web design program I've heard great things about.

NO image dressmaker is making use of QuarkXPress. Quark replace into previous in 2009, its historic now. The Adobe courses are extensive for image designers, #a million Illustrator, #2 InDesign, #3 Photoshop, #4 Flash. whether, justdanill is a photo manipulator who's making use of a application like Photoshop, not a image dressmaker.
