You do not need a visa or permit since it is U.S. Commonwealth. Furthermore, once you move you will not be able to vote in general presidential elections nor pay Federal Income Tax (except if you work for a federal agency such as FBI, Customs, Social Security, etc.) or are in the military.

You will only have to pay Commonwealth Income Tax. The island is safe for anyone. I have personally seen many young women living throughout the island without any problems. The user who posted the comment about safety probably is not Puerto Rican and wants to paint a negative picture of the island. Always use common sense when walking at night and avoid crime-infested areas.

You dont need a work permit to work or relocate into PR if you are an American Citizen. The question however is why would you want to do taht? Have you ever lived in Puerto Rico? Obviously you havent...so I would suggest yo come and take a look and see how you like it. Puerto Rico is not a very safe place for a young girl alone. Drug infested and high crime. If you were my daughter I wounld not want you living alone here... I am being candid with you...

no,nothing special. PR is a commonwealth, but the government is the United States. if you are going to move here, I suggest bringing copies of your birth certificate. We have social security, welfare, and door to door sales people. It's the United States, but with a better view!

No. If you are an American Citizen you can work in P.R. freely.
