I want to make a homemade facial mask, but before I do I'd like to know what the ingredients I use are going to do for my skin. I noticed a lot of recipes have bananas, honey, strawberries, eggs, yogurt... and there are many more, but no where tells me what they do. I would really appreciate if someone could give me a list of ingredients and tell me what they do or send me a link to a site wear I could find the answers I'm lookin for.
<321thanks

I don't think the science of homemade facials is really well developed -- they don't have cosmetic companies backing studies! But, many ingredients have made it into commercial products, so you might get some hints from there.

For example, oatmeal (especially ground oatmeal) is an exfoliator and it's supposed to draw impurities from the skin.

Honey is supposed to moisturize, and draw impurities (I saw a study about how sugar will draw the excess fluid from wounds, so I think it works much the same way).

Roses are supposed to be moisturizers, and soften the skin.

Lavander is supposed to kill germs.

The homemade facials may not have studies to back them, but they do have centuries of test cases behind them.

My favorite mask is: 1 tbsp. each of oatmeal and almonds, ground up in the blender. Add one tsp of honey, and 1 tsp of olive oil. Slather on generously, and allow to set for at least 10 minutes, then rinse off.

Hope that helps.

I think a great ingredient for a homemade facial mask is cucumbers. You can peel them so that there is only the mushy part in the middle left. This keeps your skin looking healthy and fresh but also natural and henna is also very good to minimise your pores. P.s.i think eggs are used for your hair.

mix milk with brown sugar together untill it is a paste, then scrubb it onyour face with your fingers for a minute or soo .. and rinse good cause it will be a little sticky .
this helps with clearness of your skin and makes it really soft,

or .. mash strawberrys together with lemon juice and a little bit of honey , and put it on spots like if you have acne or dry skin or anything like that .. and leave it on your face for 8-12 minutes.. i use both and they work wonderr

i hope this helps =)
