I recently learned of a word that I had'nt heard before and was wondering the meaning and how to pronounce the word.

The word ties in with the concept of ' care ' and I'm intriqued to learn more of this word.

Please don't direct me to another web site for technical meaning or pronuncination...Would prefer to hear ' free form ' answer here. And, if you know the pronuncination...what other word sounds like that word ? I.E. Tree sounds like Free.

Thanks.

Ubuntu, pronounced "ùbúntú", is a sub-Saharan African ethic or ideology focusing on people's allegiances and relations with each other. Perhaps it could be described as neighbourliness or humanity to others. The word has its origin in the Bantu languages of Southern Africa. Ubuntu is seen as a traditional African concept. It is somewhat akin to the Swahili word "harambee", which means "pulling together".

Ooh-boon-too.
