I've taught kids to sing many times.

BLT

Breathe
Listen
Think

If you don't breathe correctly, you can never support your voice.
The voice is a series of sustained sounds created by the passage of exhaled air through or over the vocal chords.

Learn your instrument - know where every note is and how to produce it sweetly. Listen to your voice and hear each note in your head before you sing it.

Think about each note before, during and after you have produced it - can it be improved upon?

Above all DON'T copy others like Pop and Rock stars for style and sound - be yourself instead!

Pretty good thank you.

Join a choir and get some practice and learn how to project your voice from your diaphragm, then practice in gradually larger rooms until you can sing without a microphone. But make sure that there is someone around to tell yu when you get out of key.

It is a learning process.

You do what is natural and comfortable for your voice ... it is so hard to say .... most explanations are "covered over with the pale cast of thought," as someone once said .... without knowing more from you about why you are asking, it is really impossible to say ...

".....It's impossible to ask the sun to leave the sky, it's impossible to ask a baby not to cry ....."

You know, you could listen to the recordings of Andrea Bocelli.... now THERE'S a natural sound ..... beautiful, warm, easy, and 'right there'!!!
Even if you are a woman, you still could get the feeling of ease...

more singers who sang with great ease?
Ezio Pinza
Bing Crosby
Perry Como
Pat Boone in the old days ("Love Letters in the Sand")
Judy Garland in the film "The Wizard of Oz" when she is singing
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
Elvis Presley
to name a few who come to mind ...

I was told I am a bad singer, I took a few lessons and I think I sound better but still probably not good. I cannot find anyone to tell me how I sing, I think they don't want to hurt my feelings like the person who told me I was a bad singer before.
