This is my cat: She's sitting outside in her "I'm ready to come in" spot. I open the door. She walks a few steps, stops to lick her foot. A few more steps, stops to look at a bug. Another step, stops to scratch her ear. It goes on for about 5 minutes while I'm standing with the door open like a big dummy. A ten foot trek to the door takes 5 minutes. Oh, I forgot, she will only come in from one side of the porch, so she has to walk around to that side. Does your cat do annoying things like that? Why do they?

Thats cute behavior but of course when she does it almost everytime..it can get annoying huh...

Well, its a normal kitty behaviour.. they, like humans know how to grab attention.. she knows u'd never let her sleep outside and she knows u will wait for her to come in .. so she does that to NOT annoy u on purpose but its a superior cat behavior known to all as "spoilt"..

So, its either you go grab her straight into the house when shes already at her "Going to get in" spot...and save that 5 minutes cuteness or u can just let it be.. and hold the door for her..

My cats do it all the time.. meow-meow

my girlfriend has 2 cats, one of which wont go upstairs to go to bed until i've turned out all the lights downstairs. if theres any single light left on, the cat will stay downstairs all night.

the other one, and this habit is infinitely more annoying, wakes me up every morning at 7:30, and by that i mean not 7:29, not 7:31, but 7:30 exactly. i CAN NOT figure out how the cat is telling time so accurately, but he does. he comes over to my side of the bed and just meows directly in my face, followed by poking me in the mouth with his paw. my girlfriend sleeps right through this, so he does it to me. its to the point where i'm making her set the alarm to let the cat out of the room before he does it. i'd rather wake up to music than a cat punching me in the head.

Cats have their own world.

This is why I prefer cats to dogs.

Almost all cats engage in this sort of behavior. Basically, they are psychological animals. The cat is exerting her authority over you, and showing you who is boss.

Pay no attention to it, its just normal. Most animal psychologists hold that cats believe that they are the owners, and we are the pets.

Its just the way they are.

In ancient Egypt and China, cats were beheld as powerful beings and worshipped.

Yeah. All 3 of my cats take forever to come inside, AND go outside. I've gotten used to just opening, and if they dont come in, I close it. Then they learn to come in faster, but its still a pain in the but! Especially right now in the winter when all the cold comes in. How annoying.

It's a cat, they're just trying to get attention, they just have weird ways of doing it. Just pick it up, that's probably what she wants anyway...

Mine used to go in and out and in and out. Guess they aren't sure they made the right choice. Maybe they're afraid they won't get to go back out for a while.
