Hello, I have been teaching my children at home and have craft day every 2nd thursdays with 4 other neighborhood children. The last craft was with colored modeling clay like plastercine. I drew a picture on a peice of cardboard approx. 5 x 7. I asked each child to tell me a short story and then I drew it so all the children could see and hear the story. Kids love to tell stories and this gives everyone a chance to tell one. I draw fast and not fancy and make it quick and simple. I use a timer so everyone gets a chance. You could get your child to draw anything he or she wants. Then take the colored clay and stick it on the cardboard as if they were coloring. I had them roll tiny balls and cover areas with the balls or snake shapes for smiles or tree trunks or grass. I gave them toothpick to make dots and other shapes in the clay picture. I encouraged all different ideas. There are so many possibilities with this craft. This craft went over the best because they were constantly involved and no room for wandering around the room and getting distracted. I hope this idea helps. I have lots of other craft ideas as well. Let me know if you want any more.
