Legally, you can't, but you could probably find it out there if you searched hard enough.

However if you want a free download of a word processing program that can make, store, alter, and use Word .docs then download www.openoffice.org It isn't Microsoft Office or Microsoft Word but it is a free word processor that has everything you need, for free!

Microsoft provides a free edition of Microsoft Word at Docs.com. At Docs.com you run Microsoft Word in your web browser, so there's nothing to download or install. You can store you documents for free on line and if you choose to, you can even edit documents simultaneously with others or a group of people.

Since you are just looking for a Microsoft Word replacement, i suggest you try Abiword first. It is a simple and efficient word processor which can open Word documents.
The monstrocity called OpenOffices.org (yes, that '.org' is part of the name, sigh!) can be tackled at a later date.
I am suggesting this from my personal experience with OpenOffice.org. It is much too resource hungry in my opinion.
