Leaving Christianity was the best thing that ever happened to me. I feel more enlightened than ever since having left the church. I am wondering because I saw the creator of "Veggie Tales" in an interview and I felt so sorry for him. Such an honest, hurting man who just feels pain and insecurity for having grown up without a father, and cannot accept his self worth because Christianity is in the way. I was in a similar situation, and Christianity just made me feel worse. There's a guilt trip for people who just really need a psychologist and work out personal issues, but they feel guilt for wanting to be happy and free-taught that these things are wrong
Im an ex Calvary CHapel attendee.

I can tell you haven't ever actually confessed Jesus Christ your Lord & Savior and believed in your heart that Jesus shed His blood for the remission of your sins and raised from the dead for your justification.

You must have been in a pre-salvation state all your life. You are not yet born of God, sealed with the Holy Spirit. So you never were a born again Christian.

This really isn't answering your question, but I wanted to say something. I have never attended Calvary Chapel, but I am a Christian and I believe that there are many churches out there that teach very unbiblical things. We should never feel guilty to be happy. The Bible mentions happiness hundreds of times in the Bible - there is nothing wrong with enjoying life. I don't understand how you were taught, but I disagree with this. And if you don't know that it is Ok to be a Christian and be happy, joyous, funny, and live life with zest, I feel sorry for you. I cna honestly say that the people at my church are the happiest, peaceful people I know. Before deciding against Christianity altogether, why don't you go to Crosswalk.com and check out some churches near you? Ones that are different than Calvary Chapel? I'm sure you will be a huge difference, not only in your life, but in the life of other Christians that you meet. Take care!

I'm sorry that you had to leave your faith, I will tell you that I'm a Christian woman and would never change a thing. In my life I was raised Catholic and at a very young age I always felt that this wasn't right for me.As the years passed by and I was getting older I was always seeking the way. After being in very bad relationships. One day God came to me and I felt a huge weight that was lifted off of me. I then realize that to be a true believer that I had to leave myself in the hands of God and our Lord Jesus Christ. Now you have to realize that in this world there are going to be alot of False believer, that will take the Bible and twist it around to meet their needs. They will go out into this world and preach the wrong message. I will pray for you and hope that one day you will find your way back but with the right people.

Alot of people out there think that being a Christian is that you have to live this life to where you can't make any mistakes. But that is wrong.

Jesus gave his life for us. He knew that we are not perfect in any way and would never judge us. All we have to do is ask for forgiveness when we comment a sin.

I have comment alot of sins in my life and when I ask for forgiveness it's gone.

I'm so thankful that I have the lord with me because if I didn't I would be a lost soul in the world.

Becoming an ex-Christian made me feel like a blind man who suddenly could see. It's GREAT. Now if there were just some way to cure the blindness of all the other Christains.

Peace be with you, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, remember Mary, for she anointed Jesus at the hour of his death.
As I Disciple of Jesus Christ, I belong to his spiritual Church and follow the 75 Commandments he gave unto me in the Gospel of the New Testament.

Your spirit is fighting those things that you body has been taught. Jesus said; All those that came before me are thieves and robbers but the sheep did not hear their voice.

Do not listen to the false teaching of the physical Church. Jesus told you to judge a false prophet you must listen to his words.
If he comes in his own name or the name of a prophet, he is not of God, he is of men and seeks glory from men, do not believe his words.

Don`t worry;God will bring you back to Him;just because christians are not perfect dosn`t mean that God does not love you.Remember what happened to samson when he left;he had his eyes gouged out and was put in prison;so better decide to go back to God and find a good church and find God then God making the decision for you.

Ex-Catholic here. Couldn't be happier with my decision to leave the Catholic church 10 years ago. I have since found my way through Agnosticism and Buddhism before finally converting to Islam a few months ago.

As-Salaamu Alaykum - Peace be upon you

I am NOT an ex-christian. I am now a Christian (believer) and am an ex-member of a cult. Faith does not save a person. If you are helped, it is a gift, grace, of the Almighty YHVH. Most people have faith in something else, which cannot save. And in the end most people will choose to be lost rather than come to the Savior YAHOSHUA for salvation!

The Almighty YHVH set up a system. He sent His “Son” YAHOSHUA to die for the sins of mankind so they would not have to. (They could choose to, but did not have to). Any person who chooses not to allow Yahoshua to take care of their sins, chooses to remain attached to their sins. They thus will wind up in the lake of fire which is YHVH’s method of cleaning this world, and eliminating sin and sinners. The Creator set aside the Seventh day for rest and worship. Yes that is the day usually called “Saturday”. We are not saved by obedience, we are saved by faith. However we are saved FOR obedience. As He said in John 14:15 (and in many other places) “If you love me, keep my commandments.
The only thing that will change a person is the indwelling savior Yahoshua. Obviously that is rare in this sinful world.

True faith, and salvation comes from Scripture. No organized religion is close. There is a heavenly father YHVH. There is a divine/human Savior YAHOSHUA. The Seventh day "Saturday" is the special day for rest and worship. How does it look so far? do I need to go on? Eternal life is only available by grace received through faith. I give Him my sins, and He gives me eternal life. If I stay attached to my sins, I will end up where they will, which is the lake of fire in which sin and sinners will be destroyed!

Just because you left a cult at Calvary Chapel does not mean Christianity is at fault.

Nobody said church wasn't a burden.
In fact, Jesus said: "Take up your cross and follow me"
and "Help one another with your burdens"
and "the burden I give you is light."

also some church prayers refer to prayer itself as a sacrifice: in other words, when you pray, the time you are spending is given up for something else.
