I had to find out this info for a mate of mine recently - as long as your passport is valid for your trip to Spain, eg., you return before it expires, you will be OK.

I'd apply for a new one as soon as you get back though as every country has different rules.

I found out from the Spanish Embassy as advised by the Passport Office.

Additional note: I'd definately phone the Spanish Embassy - good luck

Good luck - have fun!

many countries insist on 6 months validity on the passport. if you renew it now they will include those weeks on your passport. it would be safer, however you are probably safe with in the EU.however foreign office advice says
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A valid British passport must be held for entry to and exit from Spain. Please check well before travelling that your passport has not expired by the date of travel.

Looking at http://www.eurosol.com/consul/
it states that a British citizen needs a valid passport to enter Spain and nothing about having to have x amount of months left on it.
If in doubt though try ringing the passport office

Your passport is valid in EU countires so you'll be fine - if you were travelling outside the EU your passport may need to be valid for six months after the date you are due to return.

It depends on the country. I would check with the passport office; I know it gives an expiry date; but there are some countries who like you to have at least six months to expiry still on your passport, and I think Spain is one of them.

your passport is not valid. It has to be at least 6 months in date from the date of your departure. Sorry to be the barer of bad news.
