the giving unto ceaser bit refered to paying tax in a currency with ceasers head on it. to obey the law of the land would mean the German occupied people in WW2 would have to point out the jews to the police. while many did I feel many did not. and I don't feel that was a bad choice. rules are for the obediance of fools, and the guidence of the wise.

And Jesus managed with just two: First love God, and secondly, love your fellow human beings.
And Paul managed with just one : love.
But most people don't know what that means. So, someone, somewhere, has to spell it out. Don't steal - items, intellectual property, good name, etc. If you did, return it with 20% interest, to cover the loss that the rightful owner may have suffered. That is but one aspect of love to God and man.

The old Testament put in an awful lot. Check out Leviticus and Exodus, it's heavy going and a very long list. I wonder how Peace, Love and Goodwill have ANYTHING to do with touching the skin of a dead pig.

Actually, It all depends on if you are talking about culture as a whole or the "church". Many church bylaws are due to taking certain parts of scripture..(Mostly in the Torah..the first 5 books of the Bible)..and taking them out of their historical context and applying them to their specific purposes. Many of the "laws" in scripture are actually guidelines for levite priests and government, as well as purity issues concerning those times. Scripture must be put in the right context or it gets twisted and perverted and you get what we have today...many legalists..or the opposite..."spiritual" people with no absolutes. If someone wants to know the truth..they have to study it for themselves...

Just ten? Are you serious? Old Testament laws (aka Mosaic code) numbered in the hundreds if not more.
Some examples:
- A woman is to be considered unclean for seven days after she gives birth to a son.
- If a person has a blemish on his skin and is ruled unclean by a priest, he must wear ripped clothes.
- Shaving or cutting one's hair makes that person unclean.
- Only animals with cloven hooves are considered clean for human consumption.
- It is forbidden to wear clothing of two kinds of textiles.
- Servants, obey your masters.
- Every man child shall be circumcised.
- Whoever works on the Sabbath shall be put to death.

Some things came up and are bad for your and others health right? God wasn't going to say don't drink while driving, he'd say dont do bad things that are bad for others and your health. Some people don't get that.

Hi. Happy Sabbath. Please realize the difference between the Mosaic Laws (Moses was human) and God's Laws (God is Devine). Take care.

Jesus said "give to Caesar, what is to Caesar, and give to God what is to God". We have to obey the laws of man to have regulations and peace in ones country. We obey the law of God for the salvation's of our souls.
