Praziquantel is the name of the drug you want. This is the generic name (the active ingredient) not the name brand. Be sure to purchase one that has a feline dosage chart on the container. Do not use the canine dosage chart. Also, deworming should be performed at least twice, 3-4 weeks apart.
There are only two ways your cat can get tapeworm, from eating mice or other rodents or from fleas. So if your cat is not a mouser, then you also have a flea problem to deal with. Although there are some safe dewormers available over-the-counter, OTC flea medication is very unsafe and does not work well. If your cat has been seen at your veterinary clinic within the year, they can legally sell you flea medication without having to take the cat in again. Just tell them you'd like Frontline or Advantage. You'll also have to treat your home if fleas are the culprits. While picking up the flea medication, ask the clinic what type of spray they recommend for treating your house. You may be able to pick it up at the clinic. Our clinic uses and recommends Knockout Area Treatment.
Good luck!

Best bet is wait until Monday and get something from the vet. You shouldn't have to take the cat in. They will sell you one single pill that takes care of worms. Sometimes you can see worms in their stool, but not always. The OTC stuff you can buy at the drug store doesn't work well and isn't good for the cat.

it is going to help notwithstanding it won't sidestep. Are your cats additionally getting medicine each and each month for the flea administration? It basically takes a million contaminated flea on your cat to swallow (in many circumstances whilst grooming) on your cat to get tapeworms. you additionally can convey a flea into your place without understanding it. Tapeworms are a nuisance to handle yet are, regrettably, an component to possessing a puppy. they are in a position to get an injection to do away with them yet whilst they ingest yet another contaminated flea they are going to be contaminated back. Get your cats on a month-to-month preventative, save your dogs on a preventative and you will shrink down on the possibility however the possibility is often there for reinfection.

Get a habenero pepper and make the cat to eat it. The cat won't like it anymore than a pill, and get someone who has given cats pills to help you. This is the method my Hispanic friend uses, and he says it really works. Have water available for the cat.
