If someone is dead-set against God... then it is likely God has presented Gods Truth & Love to that someone, and that someone has rejected God.
That is when spiritual blindness happens. And, if they repent, God will see if their heart is honest. God looks at the heart.

I am not going to ask for proof. I know in many ways that God as I see Him, exists. Just like I know Africa exists even though I have never been there. Define God and anything less than the universe fails to define. And finding a quiet place even in my bedroom, to talk aloud to myself is not defining me as crazy. At least I stop short of arguing and slapping myself around. And I have great respect for life. Unfortunately life defines life so we go in circles. God is no more imaginary than each of us is.

Peace be unto you;
Go into your closet and once the door is closed, pray to the Father, which is in heaven, in secret and in truth, in my name. For the Father seek such to worship him.
First ask the Father for forgiveness for your trespasses, as you have forgave those who have trespassed against you. If you find that you have not forgiven all trespasses, go and do so, now!
Ask the Father for your gift, of the Holy Ghost promised to you in the name of his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Believe and TAKE this gift, for it is only offered to you, you must take it to receive it.
Stay in the Word of God (RED WORDS) for 40 days, 7 hours per day, at the end of 40 Days more and more will be revealed unto you. DO NOT READ ANY OTHER SCRIPTURE EXCEPT THE WORDS SPOKEN BY JESUS.

You should be reading the Gospel of John because John explains how Jesus teaches his disciples how to deal with non belief. Matt 7:7 focus on different issues, in fact, Matt 7:7-8 makes your point stronger.
If you want truth, you need to believe that the Christian bible is God's word as spoken through the prophets. Without it, there is no truth.
Now back to Matt 7:7. This verse is apart of a sermon that starts in Matt 5:1 and ends Matt 7:27. Naturally, I would like to quote the entire sermon, but Matt 7:7-12 is enough to understand Jesus' words (NKJV)
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! 12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
"This is the Law and the Prophets", the Holy Scriptures (the Old Testament). Moreover, at the end of the sermon, you will see a remark about one Authority. How much more does God have to speak so that we believe what His prophets spoke? If we want to hear the word of God, it’s in the book.
Please note there is no door. You can knock on a door, but you are not limited to a door. You can verify this with any Interlinear Greek-English New Testament Text.

(yawn) This kind of question (?) comes up every day on R&S. I am not "dead-set" against god; I am apathetic to the concept of god. I was born a Jew and still consider myself Jewish and agnostic and apatheist at the same time. I'll bet that's too complicated a concept for you. Anyway, under no circumstances would I ever consider becoming a Christian. It would be an insult to all of my ancestors some of whom were murdered by Christians. You see, here's the difference between Jews and Christians: I have not yet read a question on here from a Jewish person threatening dire consequences if one does not become a Jew. I only read those from Christians and Muslims....I wonder why?

I think a far better approach to this would simply be to pray for those who don't know God. After all, not knowing Him is different than not wanting to know the truth

I am versed in Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam and many others, including the polytheistic religions of Ancient Egypt. Whilst many of them offer good moral advice and teachings they all conflict with themselves at some point. The true question is, how could you ever possibly know which one was correct? If one day you thought a God spoke to you how would you know it was really God and not a) Satan or b) the onset of a psychiatric disorder?
Given the overwhelming evidence in the matter of religion we can deduce without a doubt that there is no greater power at work in our lives. Therefore Atheism remains the only likely correct religion.

As nice and cute as that is, it's not true. Do you honestly think that the reason we don't believe in a god is because we don't "really want to know the truth"? I think we probably do more spiritual searching than you do. Without an active faith to blind us and keep us in denial of other religions, we go out and search, because hey, if one faith doesn't work out, why not try a second? Or a third?
So really, that's just a silly question, when you think about it.
