You ask such thought-provoking questions. I think they shouldn't retire until they become disabled or feeble-minded. That could happen long before their death, of course. I know many feeble-minded pastors.

Being a minister is 24/7 kind of job where somebody could call you in the middle of the night to keep vigil on someone who's dying or provide help to someone in a crisis. They are ultimately looked up to as the moral centre of a small community and that puts a lot of pressure on them and their families. That sort of work get more and more difficult to keep up with as you get older

wow;;;good qusetion;your right;nothing in the bible says were supposed to retire from offices of the church.All the prophets of old continued their mission or in fact they even began their mission at the age of 80 or even 90.It`s not like their do any manual labor LOL their just preaching the word.

I've often pondered this. In my opinon, Once pastors respond to a call on their life, it is a life-long call--not just to 70 or so.
