Sounds to me more like she's doing it for the attention. If she suffered from anorexia she would be very reluctant to discuss it or even admit that she has a problem. She doesn't sound emotionally healthy and she might be guilt-tripping you into making her feel more confident. If she is just making up this anorexia thing (which it sounds like she is) to get you and other people to compliment her more and give her more attentions, then that is definitely abusive and you should not tolerate it. Her trying to take advantage of you by making you feel bad, is a mentally abusive situation. Personally I feel that most girls make up mental illnesses such as anorexia, cutting, and depression, just to get more attention. In this case, the only thing you could do for her is dump her since the relationship will only go downhill (because of her abusive behavior). I'm pretty convinced that she is doing this for attention since I've had many a friend in my day that would do this, and I still have a few that I hardly ever talk to that claim to always be suffering from something. Ignoring her will make her stop, dumping her will give her a reality check. Don't play her little game.

Don't waste your time on advise to her, she is sick like junkie, all you'll get from her is a "you are not my father" and them being dumped, which wouldn't be a bad thing for you.
People never change unless they want and she don't want. Forget the pills stuff that's even worst than whatever she does, besides she is probably already using some kind of pills.
Right now she is not ready to get help so wait at her side, forget the advise stuff,if you love her just stay next to her; if she ask for help then is time to try to help her. Some of this girls don't get cured overnight some need years and many failed attemps to get better.
Now you got to ask your self if you want to be next to someone who doesn't care about her health and life. Being with her in this state is going to be a living hell for you and her family. So is up to you. If I were you I'd dump her, sorry I know she is thick but that doesn't make her less pathetic. You can't help people that don't want to be helped.

Anorexia is a disorder. You are right tho she can not quit it cold turkey. Most people need counseling. Sounds like she has some insucurities in her life and low self esteem. If you love this girl be supportive. Continue to give positive reinforcement and encourage her to get some help.

you shouldn't' have recommended dieting or taking pills. that's just another problem dieting pills are very addictive, for the energy they give you and other side effects they incur. the problem is psychological, and you can't replace one thing with another it's how she perceives herself in general that is the problem.

Try talk with her parents. It's risky to try it yourself because if you're not careful, she will end up think you're trying to control her.
