I think most people will be unwilling to take on your daughter due to her age. Most of the local stables I know won't take on children under the age of 14 and a lot are even refusing to take on anyone under 18 because of Health and Safety concerns. It is stupid I know, but many riding schools are afraid of being sued by parents of chilldren who may be kicked/bitten etc.

The best advice I can give is perhaps to contact your local branch of The Pony Club and see if anyone there is looking for someone to help them look after their pony.

Good luck!

Your little girl is a child after my own heart. I went through what she is currently facing- and the biggest problem she will face right now is her age. The other answerer is correct- most places will not take on a child that young because of the liability issues ( if something happened to your daughter, you would in all likelihood sue the facility, and most places don't carry enough insurance to be able to afford a lawsuit) as well as the safety and size issues. I would encourage your daughter to continue her lessons, and look into joining the local Pony Club as well as possibly the local Hunt Club since you live in the UK. You may also want to contact the British Horse Society chapter in your area for information about lessons, clinics, etc, that your daughter might enjoy. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Cant help you....I live in Arkansas but I wish I could help! I love to see young people like myself (I'm 13) loving horses and keeping the sport of the horse alive. I own my own stable but its not big enough to need lots of help.....I'm sorry I couldn't help you, but I do wish you the best of luck and tell your daughter not to get discouraged. Horses are great animals and they teach lots of responsibility. They help with building character also. Hope you find what you are looking for! Good Luck and have a Great Day!
