Yes it would be. They deserve some kind of reward for risking their lives.

NO= but I think it would be better if only veterans that were in combat were the only ones that were exempt. The ones that fought for freedom only. Ones in the armed services already get everything at a heavy discount and so do researves plus get paid 24 hours a day. I would put a vote in for combat and ex combat veterans be exempt from all taxes for the rest of their days for fighting for freedom.

i think you have an excellent idea there. the only taxes i would charge them is if they had a business going on the side.
income from the job in the military should be tax free. i know they don't make much money and when compared to other jobs that might have you go off some place for months at a time the pay is the pits.

You know what else would be great? If our combat veterans were honored on a scale as grand as the Oscars, Emmies, Tonies, AMAs, Grammies, etc. Wouldn't that be a sight? In the land of freedom, we hold a ceremony to announce and broadcast the sacrifices and accomplishments of the people who actually put their lives on the line for that freedom just as overtly as we do our entertainers. Hmmm...

I'm a veteran, and I don't think it would. They are citizens and should pay taxes. We reward them with free housing, all kinds of specialty pays, free medical and dental care (which 40 million other citizens don't have), commissary, and free meals. I think we do a lot for them already.

No way!
It's a really cool deal to tax them. Check this out. If they buy a candy bar with their pay they will have just paid sales tax on taxed tax dollars. They are serving us by providing Washington DC enough slush money that we might be able to call the war off soon.
Sad but true.

That's pretty good. Why not take it step further and if they've seen actual battlefield action they never have to pay taxes.

If government were limited to constitutional limitations, then it would not need to steal money from any of its citizens!
