When I was homeless, no money for food, seriously ill with a ovarian cyst and enlarged gallbladder, both which ruptured. Fortunately, I was taken in the hospital in time.
During the period of homelessness, I kept getting visions of Christ's suffering and his suffering on the cross. Those visions gave me strength, as my suffering was nothing compared to his and the visions of him were so clear.
The whole time I was enduring that period of homelessness with a young baby in tow; I knew I was never alone and that my suffering would soon end. My faith sustained me and I am living proof that believing in Christ does sustain you; especially in times of suffering.
To sum up one reason to give your life to Jesus: He suffered for us and endured suffering that we could never understand for being an innocent teaching us the love of G-d.

Oh for pete's sake grow up!
Stop listening to those christian bigots you call priests and start learning some proper history.
I've nothing against Jesus or his brothers (who were written out of the bible because they didn't fit the lie). Jesus seems like he was a decent sort of guy who wanted to make a better world. My arguement is with those individuals (most notably 'saint' paul) who invented the story of the 'divine Jesus' in the 1st century AD as a political movement to help bring down the Roman Empire. This is the reason why the christian church has its base in Rome as a symbol of its victory over the Romans.
Everything which the church has told us is the truth has turned out to be a lie. Up until the mid 19th century the church told us that god had created the world in about a week some 6,000 years ago as described in the book of genesis. This particular lie was finally debunked by Charles Darwin in his Origin of the Species.
If you want to learn about the wonders of the universe then look to science not some primitive, superstitious garbage.
Try reading Richard Dawkins' excellent book The God Delusion. It will help to educate your mind.
It is to the 21st century what the bible was to the dark ages!

NO this is beyond 'reason' as we use the word. Faith. One word only. Jesus asks that we place our faith in Him . Everything to do with reason will unfold after we have put our faith in Jesus and acknowledged that He is The way Truth and Life. That salvation can only be achieved by following Him. He knows our needs .He knows we are weak to sin and the forces of evil everywhere around us. He will protect us always and His Love is impossible to measure. So, all that we need do is pledge our faith to Jesus each and every day no matter what else.

If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)

Initially with me it was fear of judgement and punishment after death, as when I heard the gospel, the Holy Spirit was present and we were very aware of God's reality and so some of us took the missionary at his word. He wasn't preaching a toothless politically correct version of the gospel.
Of course, afterwards one can see that it is beneficial in many ways. Even if one messes up one has a sense of perspective since one has God. Even if one faces adversity there is that perspective of God wanting to do work for good in your life, for others and oneself. On one's own one can become a bitter cynic.

Because some people aren't strong enough to have such a strong belief in themselves and need to believe that there is someone looking after them. Many addicts find Jesus after they have beaten an addiction. He becomes their new addiction. They can't accept that their own inner self found the strength to win their battle and have to believe something else did it for them.

Faith does not save a person. If you are helped, it is a gift, grace, of the Almighty YHVH. Most people have faith in something else, which cannot save. And in the end most people will choose to be lost rather than come to the Savior YAHOSHUA for salvation!
The Almighty YHVH set up a system. He sent His “Son” YAHOSHUA to die for the sins of mankind so they would not have to. (They could choose to, but did not have to). Any person who chooses not to allow Yahoshua to take care of their sins, chooses to remain attached to their sins. They thus will wind up in the lake of fire which is YHVH’s method of cleaning this world, and eliminating sin and sinners. The Creator set aside the Seventh day for rest and worship. Yes that is the day usually called “Saturday”. We are not saved by obedience, we are saved by faith. However we are saved FOR obedience. As He said in John 14:15 (and in many other places) “If you love me, keep my commandments.
The only thing that will change a person is the indwelling savior Yahoshua. Obviously that is rare in this sinful world.
True faith, and salvation comes from Scripture. No organized religion is close. There is a heavenly father YHVH. There is a divine/human Savior YAHOSHUA. The Seventh day "Saturday" is the special day for rest and worship. How does it look so far? do I need to go on? Eternal life is only available by grace received through faith. I give Him my sins, and He gives me eternal life. If I stay attached to my sins, I will end up where they will, which is the lake of fire in which sin and sinners will be destroyed!

It was not reason that made me give my life to Jesus. It was love. Not erotic, not familial, not brotherly love, but Agape love - a response to God's love to us. And when that invitation came, the invitation to give myself to Jesus, it was irresistible! Such love! Where had I been all my life till then? Life without Jesus is meaningless.
