DebbyR, it's really interesting. I thought they didn't like Premium Tap because it sorta have something to do with Premium Tap alcohol, KWIM?

They didn't change his name permanently. In Arabia it is custom for the horses to run under Arabian names, so he ran as Allam. When he runs in Dubai he will run as Premium Tap. There is no wagering so it doesn't make it a big problem for the fans. So far the plan is to bring him back to the States for another try at the Breeders Cup.

The King bought him, I guess he wanted a more Arabic sounding name for the horse. I agree he's been racing under one name, and now change it?

Maybe they don't intend to bring him back here after he finishes racing in Dubai. If he enters stud duty right after these races I guess that may have something to do with it.

its not a new thing for racehorses to have their names changed...it has happened a number of times that I have seen in the DRF for past performances...besides when you toss around the kind of money the sheiks do in horseracing you can pretty much do anything you like...
