I installed ND Curse of blackmoor manor without DirectX and got a bunch of sound problems but continued playing. Unforunatly the game blew up (immdietly closed) right when nancy gets out of her taxi. That error said something about not being able to read the type of file of file toast. I uninstalled the game completely and installed it again with directX. I got the same problem. I did restart my computer after each installation. After I uninstalled it, I went to my Program Files folder and got rid of any nancy drew stuff that was left over. This works fine on my computer, which is also XP. There were no problems there. I am using the same CD. I cleaned it before every installation. I turn off my computer security before installing so there are no problems. Please tell me what to do!

PS. My other computer is at my house I am currently at my friends house and want it installed there for him and me. Her computer and mine have no viruses and basicly have most of the same stuff on them.

Later today I had to go to a friend's birthday party. I asked her if I could install this on her computer, an XP, to see if there were still problems. The same thing occured on her computer. Why is this happening???

I went to herinteractive.com but my problem was not there. I looked in the Tech Support section and other problems were there but mine wasn't. Also, the sound problems were actually error messages.

When I had a problem with a ND game, I went to their website herinteractive.com and clicked on the game and the patches. The problem I had was addressed and it solved it. Check to see if your problem is also addressed. Good luck and happy sleuthing....
