I asked a question about streamlining the 10 commandments earlier and someone replied:

"Yes, the 10 commandments could be streamlined. Especially when you read on and find out that there are about a hundred little commandments after the big ten."

Is that really true? I had no idea. I don't read the bible or anything like that, so it could be true for all I knew.

It would make sense to not mention the extra ones if they were just little or petty, incase they caused unneccesary confusion.

Yes.

If you will recall in, History of the World, Part 1, as Moses was coming down the mountain, he held 3 tablets. However, before he reached the bottom, he tripped, and dropped one tablet, which broke. Using deductive reasoning, it is fair to assume that there could have been as many as 15 commandments -- 5 per tablet.

Glad to help.

the top 10 aren't even supposed to be 10

there are actually Seven Laws of Noah, which are the universal Laws that all people of the World are supposed to follow

The 7 Noachide Laws

1. Do not murder.
2. Do not steal.
3. Do not worship false gods.
4. Do not be sexually immoral.
5. Do not eat a limb removed from a live animal.
6. Do not curse God.
7. Set up courts and bring offenders to justice.

Christians took those 7 and added the last few to round them out to 10....

but in truth....

there are 613 mitzvot (commandments) NOT 10....but only the Jews are supposed to/required to follow all of them

gentiles of the world need only worry about the 7 listed above

We have the Ten Commandments

We have ALL the commandments (direct and indirect) that Christ gave us. Christ didn't just give Two commandments, any one that claims this has never read the scriptures of the New Covenant.

There were 613 commandments during the Old Covenant days.

The covenant between God and Israel and his descendants has 613 commandments. The Jews of today observes all where possible. Unless you have a Jewish mother or you have converted to Judaism, these commandments do not applied to you.

The new covenant between God and all men (Jews and non Jews) has one restriction: 1 Cor 10:23-24. If you want to find out about the New Covenant, find a bible.

In the Old Testament it is written and referred to as the 10 commandments. The 10 commandments were written by the finger of God in two tablets of stone. The love God part may be on the right tablet (1-5), and the Love others may be on the left tablet (6-10). (Hebrew reads right to left.)

Jesus made it simpler. The 2 commandments. To do these two commandments you will fulfill all commandments. 1. Love God with all your heart, mind, soul & strength; 2. Love others as yourself. Love is the root of Gods commandments.

All laws in addition to these are mans rules & regulations.

Jesus gave the 2 greatest, plus the Golden Rule. in all these (particlarly the first 2) the rest are summed up.

1) Love the Lord your God with all your heart (being)
2) Love your neighbour as yourself
3) do unto others as you would have them do unto you

and wouldn't it make sense to actually read the Bible? this question could have been answered in 10 seconds of reading. no offense

There are a lot of laws about cleanliness and other things. But Jesus said all of the commands are based on two. The first and most important is Love God with all of your heart, and the second is like the first, love your neighbor as yourself. All of the other commands are based on these two.
