Addiction transference relates to what happens when we stop one addictive behavior and begin or increase the practice of another addictive behavior. Let's say that you are a compulsive gambler who goes to treatment and stops gambling.....then begins to drink more frequently to the point where treatment may be needed for the alcohol use.....you have transferred your addictive tendancies to something else....
