I find it precious not to clean the bowl right out when cooking.

Same here! I'm glad i'm not the only one who has noticed this! I sit and yell at the TV for them not to be so wasteful!!!

I agree, it is a waste, but I think that they do it because they are limited on timing and filming etc. Also, I do notice that many of them do not wash their hands - and sweep food bits onto the floor. Is this why children do not have any table manners any more?

Other thing about the bowl is that all the cameramen and sound engineers etc have a set of cutlery in their back pockets ready to pounce and clean the bowls!

its always better to cook a little too much than 2little, especially since their generally in a rush against the clock, having to go back and make more of something can also ruin a dish for example a sauce once its in and cooking (such as a cheese sauce) to stop stirring it could ruin it, so to find your a short by just a little often means starting again from scratch, alternatively that little extra could be used to make a little more i see your point,

I would guess that they make quantities for more than one, suggesting the excess is served to the crew, other presenters etc.
For the purposes of televison, making enough just for one isn't really practical as the amounts would be very small and the average audience is cooking for at least 2- maybe more, but seldom for one.

I honestly think they only do it to save time & get onto the next step. At least I hope that is why. I know it drives me nuts sometimes, esp. when I see them put the bowls in the sink. I have this thing about using a rubber spatula to get every last drop. I say waste not! Hope you have a good day.
