I've had this problem for two months and I have yet to find a cure. My doctor, ENT, and pediatrician do not know what is wrong. HELP ME PLEASE! I also have a hard time swallowing too.

Whenever we have mucus, specially in the mornings when we wake up, we drink hot tea with lemon and honey. This usually helps clear it up for the morning and sometimes longer. The doctor tells us that it is due to allergies, the draining from the nasal passage throughout the night. When this happens, we should bump up our liquid intake. Meaning the more liquid we drink throughout the day, will thin it out and just drain down instead of thickening and staying in the throat. If you sleep with your head elevated, it might help. Also have you tried a vaporizer or humidifier? These can bring moisture into the air.
As far as the swallowing, it sounds like you might have an issue with your tonsils (pharyngitis - swelling of the glands due to a virus? see link below for more details) or an allergic reaction to something that you are eating. I tend to get this since I still have my tonsils. If it keeps up, be insistent with the doctors. You know your body more than one else.

allergies are an immune system response to food particles, environmental toxins, or heavy metals. Allergies set up a specific reaction resulting in an antigen - antibody response.

When the health of normal intestinal mucosa (inner lining) has been altered due to inflammation, allergies appear.
Microsopic fissures in the intestine allow food particles that have not yet been digested to compromise the intestinal barrier's normal selectivity. These particles cause the body's response, which is an immune response, to set up an antigen-antibody reaction. Xanthones are the most powerful anti-inflammatory. They heal the gut quickly and prevent gut permeability. They also help remove toxins from heavy metals that if present in conjunction with LGS will also cause allergic reactions.

Drugs are dangerous and foods, as supplemants, are not.

Why would anyone ever use a drug when a food could do the same thing?

I have the same problem, including drainage from my ears, sinuses, and nose. It's much worse when I eat dairy products, to which I am mildly allergic. So when I eat a lot of cheese or pizza, I usually need to take some loratadine (Claritin) and sometimes pseudoephedrine (Sudafed...be careful with this if you can't handle your heart beating a little fast. I never use more than one 30 mg tablet in a 24-hour period.) Of course, you should see a doctor before you start these, and they will be more than happy to prescribe something for you, which may be identical to what I described and more expensive. Plus, you may need a prescription to purchase Sudafed in your region because people use it to make crystal meth! (By the way, I have tried the corticosteroid nose spray Nasonex, and while it was effective, it wasn't really necessary for me, cost $80 a bottle, and left a nasty taste in my mouth!) Finally, I also tilt back my head and gargle with cold water after brushing my teeth, sometimes taking breaths (through my nose) as I hold my head back with water in my throat. I may do this ten times or only once, but something about the head-back position seems to allow for drainage, and the water and gargling seem to suck stuff out of the ears and nose. Good luck!

My daughter has this same problem, so I also need help. We're not sure if it's allergies or environmental toxin, etc. She says her throat feels thick which prevents her from eating anything but pureed food. And it's hard for her to breathe at times- like her nasal passages are thick. NOTHING has worked for her either. ENT says there's no infection, but the problem won't go away???

Are any hereditary?[ in you family any body is suffering with brochintis, asthma, allergy, tuberculosis like ] This may leads to bronchitis in future. Treat this problem immediately. If you were not satisfied with anti allergic, anti histamines, consult a good hoemopath. There are good remedies for this in Homeopathic medicine. You can permanently cure within a short period.

I'm sure that your ENT gave you antibiotics. Continue taking these. I'm sure you already know this, but STAY AWAY from all dairy products (especially milk and cheese). Try eating some steamed foods and drinking a coke or too.

you should take a medicine called MUCINEX that you can get from your doctor. you can also get an over-the-counter store version at CVS. ask the pharmacist. the medicine breaks down the mucous and gets rid of it. good luck! allergies really suck.
