Hi! Am a 25 year old healthy female with a great life. Dr. just prescribed me 50mg of Zoloft (generic kind) because I have some anxiety/stress issues. Had a death in the family on Christmas followed by my miscarraige. Stomach has been constantly upset and I haven't been eating right. I seem fine during the days and most nights but some nights I get really sick feeling. I haven't started the Zoloft yet as it is a serios drug and I have some reservations. Would like to try something all-natural first. However, I would like to hear any success stories of people who have taken this, how long were you on and what side effects you had from it. Thank you for your input.

You're right to have some reservations about this. Zoloft is a maintenence medication and once started you will have to take it for a fair amount of time.
I think 50 mg. is too much to start off with. You need to bust them in half and take 25 mg for the first week and then if you like move up to 50mg. Otherwise you're likely to have nausea and vomiting.
If you are having problems with anxiety, Zoloft is a very good medication to treat it.
I have been on it for several years now. I did quit taking it when I decided to get pregnant and stayed off of it until a few months after my son was born.
Getting off of Zoloft is not easy. You really do have to wean off of it because it causes severe dizziness and mood swings.
Your doctor might be right to have given it to you, however, you really should think about it before starting a long term medication.
I noted that you had a miscarrige. It is something you'll want to consider if you are planing another pregnancy.
Good luck and take care of yourself.

Zoloft is a great medication if you need it. However I have to wonder if you do. You are grieving....some anxiety or depression, sometimes with physical symptoms such as an upset stomach is normal during the grieving process. Have you considered some counseling before you start medication? Meeting with a counselor or psychologist will help determine if your condition can be addressed without medication or if taking something like Zoloft is the right course of treatment. All medications have side effects and I think we're all better off if we can manage stress and anxiety without them.....but let a qualified professional help you make that decision,

I've been on Zoloft (generic) since early December. I moved up pretty quickly through the doses b/c I've been depressed for so long & my doc wanted me on the max asap. I currently take 150mg and I haven't had any side effects except maybe insomnia. Everyone reacts differently so you may experience something totally different. I've noticed my anxiety level has decreased a good bit. I'm pleased with the results so far, and hope it will only get better from here on out.

There are a great deal of people taking Zoloft nowadays. It's very popular and is good for people with anxiety and stress issues. I do know a few people on this drug and it seems to be a good one. Haven't heard of any side effects at all. Good luck to you.
