I always have my friend sit by me, so we can talk. I dont think it matters. Whatever is comfortable for the couples.*

I don't think there is any rule to it, but usually the women sit across from each other, or at least when I go out with friends that what we do. Unless the women don't know each other, then it doesn't really matter.

The general rule is that men sit across from women unless they are a lesbian couple - in which case - they sit across from each other. I don't know who made up the rule... personally, I think it's stupid... but there it is.

It doesnt matter!!
Here's a thought for you though......for a larger group on a long table, its a great idea for everyone to move one seat over, after the main course..... this means that people get to sit opposite someone different for a while and therefore more be more sociable!

Sometimes the men and women sit next to each other so the can talk guy or girl stuff easier.

It probably would be better if the two women are facing each other, if they know each other. They probably have a lot to talk about and maybe the men as well.

I think that the man should sit on the same side with his gurl -gurls accross from one another so they can talk and guys across so they can exchange looks when cofused
